Update on Effects of Earthquake in Tohoku Region on March 11, 2011

Terumo initiates massive recovery efforts to stabilize product supply

3/16/2011 - Tokyo, Japan

Terumo would like once again to express its sympathy to the victims of the massive earthquake which occurred in the Tohoku region on March 11, 2011.

At present, we are collecting updated information and working on a recovery plan regarding damage to our business offices, production sites and logistics network as a result of this earthquake.

At present the situation can be described as follows:

1. Product supply

Some of our suppliers are located in the affected areas. Together with the scheduled electrical power blackout periods and current traffic situation, the situation at some of our suppliers has affected our production capacity. However, we have initiated massive recovery efforts in order to stabilize our product supply.

2. Homecare patients in Japan

Regarding peritoneal dialysis therapy, domestic oxygen therapy, and home parenteral nutrition, we are currently working on confirming the safety of our patients and making every effort to supply products to them.
In the affected areas, we are collaborating with the governmental and medical institutions to build an emergency logistic supply chain.

Again, we apologize for caused inconveniences, which at all efforts, we are trying to minimize, and thank you for your kind understanding.
