31-year old female with permanent, disabling pain of the right hip for 16 month underwent repetitive imaging (CX, MRI) and (unsuccessful) open biopsy of a juxta-cortical lesion in the neck of the right femur. Histology from CT-guided biopsy confirmed osteoid osteoma.

With the patient in supine position and using local and general anesthesia, a 17G × 15 cm long TATOpro antenna was placed directly within the lesion by CT guidance. Owing to the juxta-cortical location of the lesion and the prior biopsy, no guiding trocar was necessary to position the antenna. Ablation was performed with one cycle applying 20 W for 5 minutes. Post-interventional CT confirmed freedom from complication.

The patient was free of symptoms one week after the procedure. No pain medication was prescribed from that point onward. Follow-up MRI four weeks after the ablation confirmed complete devascularization of the osteoma. The pre-existing joint effusion had resolved.
