The history of our parent Company, Terumo Corporation, spans an even greater period in medical device development. In the early 1920's, a group of Japanese doctors responded to the shortage of medical equipment in Japan by forming a company to develop a superior clinical thermometer for domestic distribution. That company later became Terumo Corporation. It has continued to grow and is now one of the largest suppliers of medical devices in Japan.

1971 Terumo America is founded in the USA, Terumo Europe is founded in Belgium

1981 Introduction of the first hollow fiber oxygenator

1985 Introduction of Terumo Hydrophilic Guidewire

1986 Commercialisation of Terumo PTCA Catheter

1999 Terumo aquires the Sarns and CDI brands from 3M and founded Terumo Cardiovascular Systems (USA)

2000 Launch of Tsunami, Tsunami, TerumoCoronary Stent

2001 Terumo Cardiovascular Systems aquires the Lifestream International Inc, Cannulae Division

2002 Acquisition of Vascutek Ltd, a global leader in artificialvascular grafts

2002 Introduction of Capiox®Baby RX™ Neonatal Oxygenator and of Terumo Advanced Perfusion System 1 in Europe.

2003 Launch of Venosafe produced by Terumo Europe

2003 Global Distribution agreement with Biocompatibles for BeadBlock (Embolosation)

2003 Terumo forms a wholly owned subsidiary, Terumo Heart Inc, to develop an implantable left ventricular assist device (Duraheart)

2003 Licensing Agreement with Biosensors for development of a Drug Eluting Stent

2005 Nobori 1, clinical program for NOBORI™ DRUG-ELUTING STENT

2005 Terumo Corporation plans to launch a syringe for insulin patients featuring the world's smallest needle
