In keeping with our pledge to continually improve treatment options for cardiac patients, Terumo has developed modular perfusion circuits designed to optimize cardiopulmonary bypass by significantly reducing prime volume, hemodilution, foreign surface area, inflammatory response and complement activation.
Clinical Application in Valve Surgery
Set Up and Priming
All components of the ROCsafeRX Modular Perfusion Circuit are pre-connected and
pre-mounted enabling fast and easy set up.
Set up and priming of the ROCsafeRX can be completed in less than 5 minutes.
Cannulation and Retrograde Autologous Priming
ROCsafeRX is optimal for retrograde autologous priming techniques which minimize hemodilution and achieve higher interoperative hematocrits. We recommend Terumo® Soft-flow Arterial Cannulae and Terumo® Triple Stage Venous Return Catheter to further optimize the ROCsafeRX Modular Perfusion concept.
On Bypass
Together with the Terumo® Advanced Perfusion System 1, the ROCsafeRX Modular Perfusion Circuit provides ultimate patient safety during bypass. By placing the entire air removal function on the venous line, air is effectively eliminated before it enters the centrifugal pump and becomes dangerous for the patient. For added biocompatibility ROCsafeRX features X Coating™, Terumo’s own amphiphilic, biopassive polymer surface coating, which reduces platelet adhesion and minimizes activation
